About The Vagabond Hotel Miami
The Vagabond Motel opened on Biscayne Boulevard in 1953, designed by B. Robert Swartburg, the architect behind the Delano Hotel and one of the defining figures of Miami Modern architecture. Developer Avra Jain acquired and restored it, reopening in 2014. The restoration earned a National Register of Historic Places designation that same year. Wallpaper* named the Vagabond one of only six Miami hotels worth including in its city guide. Swartburg's defining details, the angled trusses and pylons supporting the original sign, the exterior catwalks wrapping the interior courtyard, and the porte-cochere finishing in a gentle upward turn, are all intact. The MiMo District around it has followed the Vagabond's lead and kept coming back to life.
