The Doyle family left fast-paced city life to open The Kelby in 2023, taking over a small vintage roadside property on South Mayhew Turnpike that had previously operated as the Blue Moon and the Whip-O-Whil. They kept the single-level motor-court bones and reworked the rooms into something warmer and more considered, cheerful and rustic without tipping into kitsch. The site sits near the shore of Newfound Lake, one of the cleanest and coldest lakes in New Hampshire, ringed by hiking trails, quiet coves, and the low mountains of the western Lakes Region.
