Reclaimed Motel began life in 1960 as the Hearthstone, a roadside stop in Red Hook with a long low roofline and a hand-painted sign out front. New owners took it on in 2021 and rebuilt it with a rare kind of intention, sourcing mostly second-hand and salvaged materials so the renovation would honor the building rather than erase it. The original 1960s sign still stands. What makes the place specific is that no two rooms are alike: each one references something particular to Red Hook and the Hudson Valley, assembled from hand-selected vintage tiles, doors, lighting, mirrors, art, and vinyl. Red Hook sits at the center of a beautiful stretch of the valley, minutes from Bard College, Rhinebeck, and Tivoli, with the Catskills rising to the west.

Reclaimed earns its name honestly. Rebuilding a 1960 motel almost entirely from salvaged materials is harder and slower than a gut renovation, and the result is something a formula could never produce: rooms that each tell a different Hudson Valley story, assembled from real pieces with real history.
