About Pioneertown Motel
Pioneertown Motel occupies the original guest rooms of a live-in Western film set built in 1946 by a group of Hollywood investors that included Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. The streets were functional saloons, stables, and storefronts that doubled as genuine film locations; Gene Autry played poker until sunrise in what is now Room 9. The Western genre eventually faded, the town quieted, and the motel changed hands several times. Brothers Mike and Matthew French, with Casey Keasler on interior design, re-established it in 2015 with one principle: restore the landmark without erasing what made it worth restoring. Tom Coor manages day-to-day. The motel is the only accommodation in Pioneertown.
