Hotel Wren opened in 2024 as a reimagining of a 1940s roadside motel on El Rey Avenue in Twentynine Palms, five miles from Joshua Tree National Park's North Entrance. Manola Studio, a multidisciplinary design firm, led the transformation: the original single-story footprint preserved, interiors rebuilt around the specific palette of the Mojave. Hand-troweled plaster walls in warm earth tones, custom terracotta floors, hand-painted tiles, and vintage furnishings selected individually for each room. The result reads as unmistakably of this desert rather than dropped into it. The Windsong bodega on-site stocks curated provisions for guests who want to prepare for the park without leaving the property. Wonder Valley bath products, made in the high desert, are stocked throughout.
