VIP Hospitality Group, a Portland-based company founded by immigrants and now managing six Oregon and Washington properties under Rob Lee's leadership, acquired the lodge and completed a full renovation in 2020, led by Ankrom Moisan Architects. The exterior-corridor motor lodge format was preserved as the building's defining characteristic. The name references a Siletz Indian legend about the Salmon people, and VIP Hospitality has built the lodge's environmental values around that connection.

One of the Oregon coast's most dramatic hiking destinations: a forested headland rising above 1,000 feet, with open wildflower meadows, Sitka spruce old-growth, and unrestricted Pacific views from the summit ridgeline. The Nature Conservancy manages the upper trail; access is seasonal from July 16 through December 31 to protect nesting falcons. The lower trail through old-growth forest is open year-round.

Devil's Lake State Recreation Area

Less than a mile east of the Coho.
