Shelter Social Club, the boutique group that also operates Capri Hotel in Ojai, acquired the property and renovated it in 2016, restoring the original motor court bones while replacing the pool with a wine bar that fits where the property actually is. The renovation landed somewhere between a roadside Western and a wine country inn: terracotta floors, clawfoot baths in select rooms, and a courtyard fire pit for the hour after tasting rooms close. The motel sits in the middle of Los Alamos's Bell Street, no more than a quarter mile long.
